WE ARE HIRING: SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER
CAOBISCO, the European Association representing the Chocolate, Biscuits and Confectionery Industry, is looking for a Sustainability Manager, in Brussels. The chosen candidate would start to work full time for the Association as of 1 October 2021, for a period of 1 year (CDD) that could be prolonged and changed to a CDI after that period.
Provide timely and actionable information and advice to CAOBISCO members about policy and regulatory initiatives/developments in the field of sustainability. Particular focus on:
- The EU Farm to Fork Strategy and its initiatives relevant for CAOBISCO in particular, in the fields of agricultural and commodity supply chains, human rights and environmental due diligence, corporate governance, packaging.
- Other sustainability activities by the EU and supply chain stakeholders.
Develop and communicate CAOBISCO positions and develop recommendations relating to strategic approaches to advocacy.
Engage with EU institutions and other relevant players such as industry associations, relevant civil society representatives and international organisations.
Coordinate internal communication between members and follow ways of working determined by the Sustainability Committee and CAOBISCO.
Coordinate and manage activities of sustainability-related project groups.
- The Manager reports directly to the Director General, is working closely with the chairs and members of the Sustainability Committee and its associated working groups.
- Manage the Sustainability Committee in organising meetings, events, calls, preparing presentations, leading discussions and drafting agendas and meetings.
- Report directly to the Director-General of CAOBISCO and prepare briefs and updates for the General Council and the Executive Committee.
CAOBISCO is looking for a public affairs expert preferably with:
- University or post-graduate degree in Political Sciences, sustainable development, International Relations, European Studies, Public Policy, Food Policy or related
- Relevant professional experience on a similar Ideally including experience gained in a governmental organisation, political office, consultancy, trade association or as part of an in-house government affairs/communications team.
- Good network of contacts amongst Commission officials, MEP’s, parliamentary staff and Member States Permanent Representations, as well as with Brussels based media contacts, trade associations and think tanks is an asset.
- Understanding of the current principal issues at EU level as well as of the EU legislative process and the respective roles of Commission, Council and Parliament.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You should be able to communicate with EU officials on a range of issues as well as mediate to find compromise and common positions within the
- Proficiency in English and French, written and oral. Additional EU language(s) will be an
